Travel options from Da Nang to Hoi An
Traveling from Da Nang to Hoi An is quick and easy as the two cities are just 30 kilometers apart. Hoi An is located south of Da Nang and can be reached by the coastal road or by taking one of the inland roads. You can travel by public bus or taxi, including vans operated by some companies, or you can rent a car or motorbike to make the journey on your own. Renting a car is a good option if you want to take it easy and are thinking about continuing your journey later. But compared to the reasonable cost of a private taxi, renting a car may not be worth it. The third reason to take the bus is that they depart from Da Nang frequently, so you won’t have to wait long for it. Which bus to choose? This will depend on where you start your journey. If you have arrived at Da Nang Airport and are planning to go directly to Hoi An, the bus is not the best option as the nearest stop is 3 kilometers (1.9 miles) from the airport and if you have to take a taxi to stop over you won’t save much money. With Da Nang, the story is different. There are many bus stops and it’s easy to remember which line to take: number 1. Buses are easy to see as they are yellow and leave every 20 minutes between 5:30am and 6pm.
Traveling by bus from Da Nang to Hoi An will be longer than by taxi, it will take about 70-80 minutes, but due to the cheapness of the ticket, it is worth spending a little more time on the bus.

For a little more money, you can travel with air conditioning in more comfortable seats if you take a tour operator bus that departs from Da Nang Bus Station. It is a Sinh tourist bus and it takes about 90 minutes to get to Hoi An.

If you like to travel in more luxury, a private taxi may be just what you need to get from Da Nang to Hoi An. Taxis are certainly more expensive than public buses, but if you split the cost between several passengers, they are quite affordable. You also have more planning flexibility with a taxi, and if you request a pick-up directly from Da Nang Airport, a taxi can be a much more convenient option than a public bus because you’ll start your journey at the terminal gate instead of having to get to the bus stop.

Private taxi companies include Dichung Taxi and Tiim Charter. Both companies offer pickup from the airport and downtown Da Nang, so they can also pick you up directly at your hotel if you are staying in Da Nang before leaving for Hoi An. The prices of both companies are similar, because there is not much difference between them.the services they offer. One of the few differences is that Dichung Taxi offers services with three types of vehicles: a 9-seater van, a 4-seater minivan and a 2-3-seater sedan. Tiim Charter also has large and small vans, but not sedans.
The estimated travel time from Da Nang to Hoi An is one hour, although you may arrive in Hoi An earlier depending on whether the taxi stops along the way to pick up other passengers and where you start your journey in Da Nang. In a shared taxi, you can travel with strangers, so if you prefer to travel alone, you can take a regular taxi at the airport or city center to go from Da Nang to Hoi An.
