From Koh Samui to Koh Phi Phi

Located in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samui is the second largest island in Thailand. Like many islands in the country, it is known for its beautiful palm-fringed beaches and dense mountain jungles in the interior. Beaches are lined with luxury hotels and spas, but cheap accommodation for tourists is also easy to find. Koh Samui is the perfect place for beach parties and nightlife. It is larger than the Phi Phi Islands, and you can relax by the turquoise water during the day and dance at night. Unlike Koh Samui, Koh Phi Phi has a landscape full of limestone cliffs and impressive bays with a jungle in the interior. These are two different places worth exploring. Here we will tell you what are the best transport options to go from Koh Samui to Koh Phi Phi.

Options to go from Koh Samui to Koh Phi Phi

As the crow flies, the distance from Koh Samui to Koh Phi Phi is 240 kilometers. It doesn’t look like much, but you have to cross the water to get there. Koh Samui lies in the Gulf of Thailand, east of the Karst Isthmus, and Koh Phi Phi is on the other side of the Isthmus. Although Koh Samui has its own airport, Koh Phi Phi is too small to have one, so flying between these islands is not an option. Of course, you can get very close to Koh Phi Phi if you fly to Krabi and from there continue by van and boat. Another option is to travel by land and water only, by ferry from Koh Samui, then by bus or van to the other side of the isthmus and from there by ferry to Koh Phi Phi. You can buy combined tickets for the entire trip, but due to the large number of transfers, this is a rather time-consuming solution.

The main reason it’s so expensive is that Bangkok Airways only runs this route once a day, so since there’s no competition, they charge slightly inflated prices.

Upon arrival at Krabi International Airport, you need to find a way to get to Koh Phi Phi. You can buy combined van and ferry tickets online 12Go.asia.
